The funeral service will be conducted at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, July 30, 2016 at the Oglethorpe Funeral Chapel, 607 Kaigler Street, Oglethorpe, Georgia. Reverend Coley Clark, Jr., pastor of Zion Grove Baptist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Davis Chapel A.M.E. Church cemetery, GA Hwy 26 West, Oglethorpe, Georgia.
Ernestine was born February 17, 1948, in Oglethorpe, Georgia to the late Mr. Alvin Mallard, Sr. and the late Mrs. Carrie Ann Mahome-Mallard. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Geneva Shealy and Christine Mallard-Fondren. She acquired her education from the Georgia School for the Deaf in Cave Spring, Georgia, where she graduated. She received a degree in business administration from the Cave Spring Higher Learning Tech. She moved to New York City, New York, where she met Curtis Harris. They married in 1982. She was employed by Bear Stearns Co. as a mail clerk. She retired after 28 years of dedicated service in 2008. She was a member of the St. Mathews Lutheran Church, where she served as the church treasurer. Ernestine did a lot of traveling with the church. She enjoyed visiting the different countries, serving the Lord. She traveled to Germany, England, Alaska, and to the Caribbean.
