Age 68

Son of Frank and Nellie Beauchamp.

Husband of Mary Ellen Moore Beauchamp.

Father of Terry Hignutt, Linda Joseph, Lorraine Keller, and Brian Beauchamp.

Mr. Beauchamp was born in rural Harrington. He married Mary Ellen Moore on November 6, 1953. They started their life together farming, and then he joined the DE State Police in 1966.

He worked in traffic and with the Youth, and was in the Criminal Division when he retired.

He was given an opportunity to work with Camp Barnes and worked with the Camp Barnes Stock Races as long as he was able.

While he was still farming and a trooper, he took time to build a new home for his parents and for his family as well. This started a new tradition and he helped each of his children build their homes when they settled down.

As his children were growing up he volunteered to help start a Bethel of Jobs Daughters, which provided young girls with the teachings from the Book of Job.

After the children were grown, Mr. Beauchamp became involved in two local Ruritan Clubs. He held offices in both clubs and on the district level in the Delmarva-NJ District.

He loved to vacation in the Shenandoah Valley area as well as Florida.

He had many animals and loved to garden. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police and was an AF & AM Master Mason Temple Lodge # 9 Milford, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Burrsville Ruritan Past President and Andrewsville Ruritan President, Past District Governor of Delmarva-NJ District Ruritans, Associate Bethel Guardian of Jobs Daughters, Shield & Square and numerous other community activities.

He loved to play Santa Clause to hundreds of children for the past 12 years. This lead to him being known as "Santa Clause." He would go to houses to deliver candy canes and apples as Santa. He was Santa Clause to three different generations of the same family. Last year, he gave out 27 dozen candy canes and 9 bushels of apples. He was Santa Clause to several churches, 4-H Clubs and Boy Scout Packs. He decided his wife could make 35 apple cakes so that he could pass them out as well. Even though he was 6'8", the children were never afraid of him. If there ever was a Santa Clause, Preston was it!

He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and friend to anyone he ever met. He will be greatly missed.
