Margaret Francis Nevels, age 91, of Odessa, died on Sunday, July 24, 2016.

Funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Thursday, July 28, at First Baptist Church in Odessa. Burial will be in Lexington Memory Gardens Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 27, at Hoefer Funeral Home in Higginsville. The family suggests memorial gifts to the First Baptist Church of Odessa Building Fund or to The National Eye Institute.

Surviving are sons, William (Roberta) Nevels, of Sapulpa, OK, and Curtiss (Lynette) Nevels, of Higginsville; daughters, Gloria (Robert) Heifner, of Kansas City, Kathy (Charles) Hurt, of Brightwood, VA, Iris (Robert) Schwartze, of Odessa, and Evelyn (Terry) Wade, of Odessa; brother, Lloyd (Ella Mae) Matthews, of Warrensburg; 18 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, George Edward Matthews and Elsie Mae (Bayless) Matthews; husband, Thurman Coolidge Nevels; one son, Lee Nevels; three brothers, Clarence, Eugene and Cleo Matthews; one infant brother, George Edward Matthews; and two sisters, Mary Esther Schmutz and Alice Anderson.
