Dorothy "June" Waikel, 83, of Fort Wayne, passed away on Friday, Oct. 22, 2010, at Parkview Hospital. Born July 15, 1927, in Shawnee, Ohio, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Lovinna Wolf Cook. At age 2, she moved to Fort Wayne. She worked at Perfection Biscuit Co., The Pie Shop, Wayne Candy, and retired from Lutheran Hospital housekeeping department in 1999. She married Lyle V. Waikel on July 5, 1947; he preceded her in death on Nov. 6, 1981. She was a member of Northside Missionary Church. Surviving are one son, Loydd Vernon (Robin) Waikel of Fort Wayne; stepdaughter, Sharon Patterson of New Haven; two sisters, Helen Johns and Donna Brindle, both of Fort Wayne; nine grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her son, Herbert Arquette II; four sisters, Thelma Haudenschild, Betty Winkleblack, Nellie Connor and Florence Stranger; three brothers, Arthur, Ronald and Kenneth Cook; and one grandson, Herbert Arquette III.
Service is 11 a.m. Tuesday at C.M. Sloan & Sons Funeral Home, 1327 N. Wells St., with calling one hour prior. Calling also from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial in Lindenwood Cemetery. Preferred memorials to Northside Missionary Church.
