John Edwards

Funeral services for John Edwards, 84 years old, a veteran of the Civil War, who died on Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Horace W. Alrich, 1002 West Tenth street, will be held at the home of his daughter tomorrow afternoon at 2.30 o'clock. Interment will be made in Riverview cemetery.

Mr. Edwards was born in England, but came to this country when three years old. During the Civil War he fought in all the important battles, including the Battle of Gettysburg. He was the oldest member of Clayton Lodge, No. 4, K. of P. During his late illness he had been confined to his bed for eight months, and it is believed that the warm weather on Saturday hastened his death. He was at one time employed as a steam welder at the Bethlehem plant of the Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corporation. He retired about 30 years ago.

Besides his daughter he is survived by one son, Charles Edwards, of Philadelphia. He is also survived great-grandchild.
