Barry Keith Smith, 44, died on September 12, 1992.


Born July 6, 1948 in Colorado Springs, Colorado to John K. and Peggie Elaine Smith. Married Vallerie Mangum on August 1, 1971 in Elko, Nevada; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.


He graduated from West High School in 1966, attended U of U, and SLCC. An elder in the LDS Church, he held many positions.


He campaigned in local government. He was also involved in student government, receiving an award for the Most Outstanding Nontraditional Senator at SLCC, 1991-92. He was involved in scouting throughout his life, and received his Eagle Scout. His great loves were the gospel, and his family.


He will be greatly missed by many.


Survived by his wife and daughters, Mrs. Duke (Jenni) Walberg; Allison Larie; Erika Sariah; Miriam Eileen; and his mother; his brother, Francis Lynn Smith; and grandson, Jake Duke Walberg.


Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday at 12:00 noon at the Hunter 17th Ward Chapel, 3745 South 6400 West, West Valley City. Friends may call at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna on Monday from 6-8 p.m. and at the Ward Chapel on Tuesday from 11-11:45 a.m.
Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
