WELLSVILLE - Carrie T. Voorhis Anderson was taken home to be with her Lord and savior on Thursday (July 21, 2016) at the Jones Memorial Hospital, Wellsville.

Carrie was born at home in Clarksville township, Allegany County, on April 25, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Albert and Ruth Swetland Thomas. She married John Peter Voorhis who passed away in 1954. She later married Robert S. Anderson, who passed away in 1990.

Carrie was a 1942 graduate of Portville Central School. Prior to her marriage she was employed at the Eldred Munitions Plant. She worked for many years as a cook and waitress at the former Spring Hill Restaurant in Portville and later employed by Biozyme Laboratories in Olean.

Prior to moving to Manor Hills in Wellsville in 2014, Mrs. Anderson lived in Barefoot Bay Florida since 1994. Prior to that, she resided Olean and Portville.

She had been a member of the First Baptist Church Barefoot Bay while living there. She was also a charter member of the Faith Bible Church in Little Genesee, and after her marriage to Robert Anderson, she became a member of the Allegany Baptist Church.

She is survived by a son, Bruce (Julie) Voorhis of Huntingdon, Pa.; two daughters, Bonnie Hendryx of Rochester and Phyllis Stevenson of Allegany; a stepdaughter, Barbara (Douglas) Sabin of Milroy, Pa.; a step-son, Robert (Sue) Anderson Jr., of Olean; 11 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; a sister, Sharon (Vernon) Burdick of Alfred; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her husbands John and Robert; several brothers and sisters; and a son-in-law, John Stevenson.

Burial will be in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, Portville.
