On Thursday, July 21, 2016, Wilma Gay Brooks, 68, of Fanrock passed away peacefully with her family by her side after a courageous battle with liver disease.

She was born in Mullens on October 30, 1947. She was the daughter of James Perry Brooks (1899-Deceased) and Lila Mae Kennedy-Brooks (1922-Deceased) who both preceded her in death. She was a retired school bus driver for Wyoming County Schools after 32 years of faithful service earning perfect or faithful attendance every year.

She loved animals and enjoyed watching her grandson participate in high school basketball and could often be found bragging on his and her children's accomplishments. She also enjoyed taking care of her home, both inside and out and loved decorating her home with candles and angels.

A loving mother and grandmother, she is survived by her son Darrell Hatfield and his wife Lori Hatfield of Orange, VA; her daughter Vanessa Hatfield-Adkins of Fanrock; along with her grandson Christopher Adkins also of Fanrock. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews and a very special sister-in-law Adelene Adams.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, July 25, 2016 at Palm Memorial Gardens, Matheny, WV.
