Patsy Blanton Powers, age 64, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2016. She was born in Robeson County on July 29, 1951 to Davis & Lollie Blanton. Mrs. Powers was the first female officer for the Lumberton Police Department and served for 17 years. She initiated the D.A.R.E. program of Robeson County and was also a member of the NC State Bureau of Investigation. She will also be remembered for her service with the Fair Bluff Post Office for 30 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband Ronnie Britt of the home; 1 son, Davis “DJ” Powers of Lumberton; 2 sisters: Nancy Milligan and husband Joe of Chesapeake, VA & Wanda Mercer of Holden Beach; and 2 grandchildren: Chasity Powers & Chloe Powers.
A time of visitation will take place on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, from 6:00-8:00 PM at Floyd Mortuary & Crematory, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 14, 2016, at 11:00 AM at Antioch Baptist Church with Rev. Mark Meadows officiating. Burial will follow at New Hollywood Cemetery.
