Gail went to Bellflower High School, then Cerritos College where she earned an AA degree. She worked at Gemco stores for many years and later at the City of Long Beach for over 30 years in the Parking Citations Department.
Gail loved animals. Wild, domestic, cute, not so cute! She was an avid supporter of many animal-related charities such as San Diego Zoo Global, the Greater Los Angeles Zoo Association (GLAZA), World Wildlife Fund and Defenders of Wildlife. This is a small sampling. She was a charter member of the Aquarium of the Pacific. She held memberships with the San Diego Zoo, Los Angeles Zoo the Moonridge Zoo in Big Bear and even the Capital of Texas Zoo in Cedar Creek, TX over the years. Gail had many beloved pets over the years. Some were adopted from Animal Control, but most adopted her by just showing up and deciding they wanted to be part of her family.
Gail loved reading! She would be reading 3 books at any given time.
Gail loved adventure! Museums, zoos, parks, county fairs, estate sales, farmer's markets, auctions, even Disneyland! She enjoyed traveling with her family to San Diego and San Luis Obispo. And she loved visiting her best friend Louise (and Louise's husband Frank) whether it be at a cabin in Twin Peaks, CA or wherever their adventures took them in the Cedar Creek/Austin, TX area.
Gail was diagnosed with Stage 4 breast cancer in May 2010. Some people would give up. Gail renewed her Annual Passport to Disneyland! She decided she was going to live the rest of her to life to its fullest.
Gail is survived by daughter Sarah (Patrick) Rosen, step-daughter Christine (Ron) Bati, grandsons Brandon, Matt and Michael, nephews Charles, Donald and Joe. She is also survived by many "adopted" children.
Gail would appreciate it if those that loved her would reach out to her favorite charities in her honor. Suggestions include World Wildlife Fund, Defenders of Wildlife, Fund for Animals, San Diego Zoo Global, Wildlife Waystation, or your local Zoo/wildlife rescue organization.
