Mr. Robert M. Adams, Jr. 95, better known to everyone as "Daddy Bob" passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home in North Myrtle Beach, He was born in Lesslie, SC, the son of the late Robert and Ada Cornwell Adams, Sr. He is a long time member of the North Myrtle Beach community and took great pride in the lives of his family. Mr. Adams was a avid sports fan and enjoyed watching teams play at the recreation center fields and loved watching any sport of the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers.
Mr. Adams was a charter member of the Ocean Drive Lions Club, a founder of the Ocean Drive Presbyterian Church, the Superintendent of Sunday School from 1965 to 1985, Chairman of the Board of Deacons from 1955 to 1957, and founding member of the Surf Golf and Beach Club.
Mr. Adams lived in the Barium Springs (NC) Orphanage from 1932 to 1939 and graduated from Tech High School in 1940. He served on the US Army and was employed at Dew Company from the mid- 1940's until 1990.
He was predeceased by Gladys Smithwick Adams (Shug), his wife of 50 years, Dorothy Adams (Nanna Maw), his wife of 21 years, and his son Mackey Adams. He is survived by his daughters Carolyn Sendler of Columbia and Wanda White (Terry) of North Myrtle Beach, daughter-in-law Diane Adams, six grandchildren (Richard Sendler Jr., Page Edwards, Wayne White, Scott Sendler, Jeff White, and Robbie Adams) and 12 great grandchildren.
Carolyn and Wanda would like to give special thanks to the care givers for loving their Daddy-Jay Franks, Shirley Hemmingway, Ron Havens, Shelli Moyer, Jan Coleman, and Angela Panos.
Visitation will be held at Lee Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 26, at 12:00 followed by a Memorial Service 1:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Barium Springs Alumni Association(156 Frazier Loop; Statesville, NC.28677 or Heartland Hospice Care (2411 North Oak Street, Suite 108; Myrtle Beach, SC 29577.
