OBITUARY
Michael James Cody "Mike", age 87 of Canadian Lakes, passed away on the morning of Tuesday, July 19, 2016. A Memorial Mass will be held in his honor Tuesday, July 26th at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael's Catholic Church – Remus. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 AM to the time of service on Tuesday. Because Mike was such an animal lover, family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial donations be made to the ARC of Mecosta County. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Mike was born August 19, 1928 in Quebec, Canada. He worked for Chrysler Corporation in Highland Park for 16 years before designing Apache trailers for Vesley Manufacturing in Lapeer. It wasn't long before Mike was offered a position with Milton Bradley (the toy manufacturer) as product manager of their Whiting craft division in East Longmeadow, MA. He eventually worked for Prince Company in Holland, Michigan for approximately ten years before retiring in 1993.

After his retirement, he and the love of his life, Dorothy, enjoyed traveling to many different places frequently hauling their camper behind their pickup truck. The couple moved to Canadian Lakes in 1990, then to Gulf Shores, Alabama in 2000, and back to Canadian Lakes in 2005. Throughout his life Mike delighted in hunting, camping, playing cards and bowling.

He had a very dry sense of humor, often making his neighbors laugh. Frugal, soft spoken, down to earth and humble were all words used to describe Mike.

He will be greatly missed by his children, Patrick (Carol) Cody and Nancy Trotter; grandchildren, Patrick, Stephen, Malia, Jennifer, Michael, Kevin, Bill and James, and six great-grandchildren.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Kitty Cody; his wife of 62 years, Dorothy in 2014; son, Dennis in 2004 and infant daughter, Kathy in 1959.
