ANTHONY HENDRICK REID ROCKFORD, IL
On September 21, 1955 in Rockford, IL, God blessed Ralph Harland and Mabel Williamson Reid with a strong and handsome son named Anthony. He was the fourth of eight children, and was lovingly referred to as "Tony". He was educated in the Hammond, Indiana school system, culminating his secondary school experience at Hammond High School. Tony later attended Indiana State University on a wrestling scholarship and then later entered the army. Tony was a dedicated employee of Duke Energy for several years. Tony married Beth Elaine Brown in Terre Haute, IN. They celebrated 30 years of blissful matrimony. God blessed them with four children. He was dedicated to his best friend and love of his life, Beth, as well as his four boys and six grandchildren. Tony, lovingly was known as Big Bru. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his cherished son Jevon Reid. Tony leaves to celebrate his time on earth: Wife, Beth Reid; children: Rodney Allen, Anthony Reid II, Jeremy Brown; grandchildren: Gabriella Allen, Aiyanna Allen, Devine Reid, Bray Lynn Brown, Drake Brown, Amya Brown; siblings: Lessa (Errol) Benson, Lolita Madison, Ralph Reid Jr., Steve (Tanya) Reid, Jean (Jack) Van Coevering, Patricia Reid, and Debra (Orrin) Blossom; aunt Katie (George) Sample; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. Funeral services are Saturday July 23, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Prince Of Peace Missionary Baptist Church at 2415 8th Avenue with his calling there from 10:00 a.m. until service time. The interment is in the Grandview Cemetery. Russell Funeral Home assisted with the arrangements.
