Charles was a son of Charles Godbold (1798-1884) and Elizabeth Edwards (1798-1854).

He married Jane Erhardt (1824-1902) in 1841 at Greenbush, Waterloo Twp; They were married by Reverend Frederick W. Bindeman.

They had a family of 3 children all born in Ontario.
1. John Godbold 1842-1913.
2. Mary Ann Godbold (Martin) 1844-1926.
3. Charles Godbold 1846-1892.

Charles died in Waterloo Twp; Wellington District in 1847. His Death Age was calculated at 24 years, 7 months and 30 days.
