Funeral services for John William Reeder, Sr. will be held at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 23, 2016 at Summerville Baptist Church with Reverend Jesse Henderson, Reverend Leslie Tam, and Reverend Craig James officiating.

Committal service will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Jena under the direction of White Oaks Funeral Home, Oakdale.

John, 69, of Jena, entered eternal rest on Thursday, July 21, 2016 in his residence with his loving family by his side.

He was born May 7, 1947 in Pineville to the union of Corbett Reeder and Jessie Irene “Jack” (Boyd) Reeder.

He was a member of Summerville Baptist Church and worked for Entergy in the control room.


He is preceded in death by his parents; his father-in-law, John Gale Coker Sr.; his grandparents, John & Stella Doughty Boyd and William & Minnerva Coutee Reeder.

Those left behind to cherish his memory are: his loving wife of 18 years, Betty Lou Coker Reeder of Jena; one son, John William (Kelli) Reeder, Jr. of Baton Rouge; stepdaughter, Misty (Jason) Gray of MerRouge; stepson, Brandon Cahoon and his companion, Jada of Olla; four brothers, Michael (Jackie) Reeder of Cabot, Arkansas, Billy Reeder of Pollock, Russell (Darlene) Reeder of Summerville, and Darryl (LaRae) Reeder of Jena; two sisters, Delores (Bob) Cooper of Summerville and Jackie (Clifford) Hooter of Jena; grandchildren, Chris and Ross Reeder; five step grandchildren, Corbin, Courtney, & Carey Cahoon, Kaitlyn Gray and Trystan McBroom; and numerous nieces, nephews, family and friends.

Pallbearers to serve will be Chris Reeder, Ross Reeder, Brandon Cahoon, Billy Reeder, Jr., Jason Gray, and Jase Reeder. Honorary pallbearers to serve will be Bob Cooper, Jr., Jacob Reeder, and Clifford Hooter.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 21, 2016 at White Oaks Memorial Chapel in Oakdale from 4 p.m. until 6 p.m., then on Friday, July 22, 2016 at Summerville Baptist Church from 10 a.m. until service time on Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the church.
