JULIA SAMZ

Mrs. Julia Samz, 96, of 1617-18th St., Two Rivers, former longtime resident
of the Town of Two Rivers, died early Sunday morning at home. She had been
stricken with a stroke a week previous.
Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at Deja & Martin Funeral
Chapels, Two Rivers, and at 10 a.m. with a solemn requiem high Mass at St.
Luke Catholic Church. The Rev. H. J. Schmitz will be celebrant and the Revs.
George Beth and Adolph Dolezal will be deacon and subdeacon, respectively.
Mrs. Samz, nee Julia Switalski, was born Dec. 26, 1865, in Poland, daughter
of the late Frank and Rose Marquardt Switalski. When she was 12 years old,
the eldest of 10 children, she was brought to this country with the family,
settling on a tract of land in the Town of Two Rivers adjacent to the old
Schroeder farm along Lake Michigan. She was married 76 years ago to Joseph
Samz at St. Luke Church, Two Rivers. The couple settled after marriage on
the old Samz farm in the Town of Two Rivers. Her husband preceded her in
death 31 years ago. Ten years ago she moved to Two Rivers to make her home
with a son, Carl, and a daughter, Mrs. Amelia Krase. She was a member of
the Altar Society of Holy Cross Parish, Mishicot.
Besides the son and daughter, survivors include sons, John of Mishicot and
Leo of the Town of Two Rivers, a daughter, Mrs. Arthur Heyroth Sr., of
Mishicot, a brother, Joseph Switalski of Milwaukee, seven grandchildren and
11 great grandchildren.
Friends may call at the funeral chapels where the Rosary will be recited at
7:45 o’clock this Monday evening.
