Earl C. Horton of Jekyll Island, GA died on July 20, 2016, two days before his 99th birthday.

Earl is survived by his lovely wife, Julia Horton, partner in life for 76 years. Survivors include three children: Cynthia Latham (Robert), Richard Horton (Sheryl), and Celia Lare; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild; and one sister Vivian Flood.

He attended Georgia Tech, where he met Julia and his future business partners. They founded Kusan Plastics and over the years expanded the company with numerous factories in several states.

Earl and Julia were active in the Founders Council of Georgia Tech,
the Turtle Project of Jekyll Island, and the Southeast Georgia Hospital Foundation. He was a member of St. Richard's Episcopal Church, where he served as warden and treasurer.

Earl was an avid fisherman and golfer. He served as president of the Jekyll Men's Golf Association and president of the Sand Dollar Club.

He was a fun granddad and great-granddad, for all thought Granddad and Grandmom's home on Jekyll was the place to come home to.

A memorial service will be held Friday, July 22, 2016, at 6 p.m. at St. Richard's Episcopal Church, Jekyll Island.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to a favorite charity.
