Leona Ruth Ogg passed away July 20th, 2016, she was 91years old. She has been residing at 1183 Bordelon Road in Breaux Bridge after the death of her late husband Dr. Kenneth G Ogg in Oklahoma City, OK. She moved to J. Michael Memorial Home in November of 2015 where she passed away from natural causes resulting from a long journey with Alzheimer's Dementia.

Leona Ruth Ogg was born in Glen Elder Kansas, 11-3-24, the first child of Richard Harrison Helvey and Lila Ruth Wiese. A child of the depression years, she was determined to go to college and have a good living. She graduated from Kansas State College of Agriculture & Applied Science in Manhattan, KS 7-23-45 with a BS in Home Economics. Leona completed her Dietetics Internship in Oklahoma at the University of Oklahoma School of Medicine a year later, and became the Assistant Dietician in the Wesley Hospital in Oklahoma City.

It was during this time that she met and later married a young medical intern, Dr. Kenneth G. Ogg. A hungry intern came in after hours looking for something to eat, she served him cream cheese & cucumber sandwiches! They discovered their mutual love of symphony and opera and were married 6-6-48. They moved to Galveston Texas for him to complete residency. During this time she worked in the University of Texas, designing therapeutic diets. After residency was complete, the couple moved to Deridder, LA for Dr. Kenneth's military service in Fort Polk. They started their family with the birth of their first child in November of 1949.

Afterwards they moved to Oklahoma City, OK for Dr. Kenneth to establish his practice. Leona Ruth and her husband enjoyed the symphony, opera, and travel. They traveled yearly, but their favorite spots were Blue River in Tishomingo, OK and the Rocky Mountian Biological Canp in Gothic CO. Dr Ken served as the Doctor in Residence between their daily excursions.

But her passions were shopping and nutrition. She began studying about healthy eating and using dietary supplements, and devoted herself to a healthy lifestyle. She also enjoyed attending St. Lukes Methodist Church, Metropolitan Baptist Church, and Grace Fellowship Church. Leona served as a leader in Women's Bible Study Fellowship for ten years and was a great supporter of Christian Television.

She is survived by Susan Ogg Cormier married to Ernest Cormier, Jr, Breaux Bridge and her 2 sons, 2 grandchildren, LA; Sarah A.
