Charlotte C. Hicks of East Brunswick, New Jersey died Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at Chelsea Senior Living. She was 88 years old. Charlotte was born October 28, 1927 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, daughter of the late Robert Craig and the late Elizabeth Craig (nee - Smith). She is the beloved wife of the late Charles H. Hicks, Sr.; mother of Charles H. Hicks, Jr. and his wife Cindy; and Linda Hicks Wordsworth and her husband Nigel; grandmother of Brittany and Robert Hicks, Christopher Wordsworth and his wife Sarah and Timothy Wordsworth; great grandmother of Charlie and Madeline Wordsworth.

Charlotte was born and raised in Philadelphia. She graduated from Chonshohocken High School just outside of the city. In her younger years, she worked the soda counter at Woolworths. Later, she was employed at Bell Telephone of Pennsylvania. She married Charles H. Hicks, who also worked at Bell Telephone, and started a family. Charlotte was very committed to family and took care of her husband’s mother Ethel’s needs for many years. She enjoyed sewing and also bowling with her team, The Jitterbugs, at Silver Lakes Lanes near the family home in Willow Grove, PA.

Charlotte and Charlie were both active in The Pioneers at AT&T and were long time members at St. David Parish in Willow Grove, PA. They loved taking cruises. Their travel destinations were diverse and included trips to: Alaska, Panama Canal, Caribbean, Hawaii, and trips to England to visit their daughter Linda and her family. Charlotte was also active in the Mothers Club of Willow Grove. She continued to be active in her children’s and grandchildren’s lives after Charlie’s death in 2004. She adored her grandchildren and loved visiting them in New Jersey, England, and enjoyed trips to Walt Disney World with them.

Nearly two and a half years ago, Charlotte moved from her home on Carlson Drive in Willow Grove, PA to Chelsea Senior Living in East Brunswick, New Jersey. Although she engaged the community at Chelsea, she missed Willow Grove, her friends, and her neighbors tremendously. Charlotte’s children would like to offer special thanks to her family, friends, and neighbors (especially Faith and Debbie) who helped Charlotte with so many things and kept her involved in Willow Grove.
