KINGSFORD - Bruce E. Fletcher, 52, of N1912 Skidmore Drive, Kingsford, died at his home in the arms of his family on Monday, Nov. 8, 2004.
Bruce was born on Jan. 22, 1952, in Sault Ste. Marie and was the son of the late Roland "Mickey" and Marion "Mernie" (Bohenna) Fletcher of Rapid River.
In 1971, he graduated from Rapid River High School and then worked for five years in construction for Laborer's Union Local 1329.
On March 23, 1974, he married the former Michelle Pearson at Calvary Lutheran Church in Rapid River. He spent three years working as an automotive technician in Green Bay, Wis. then moved to Iron Mountain where he was employed at Edwards Chevrolet.
From May 1987, until January of 2004, he owned and operated East Kingsford Automotive in Kingsford.
Bruce loved all forms of racing and for eight years, he drag raced his 1982 Buick Regal at Wisconsin International Raceway in Kaukauna, Wis. He also enjoyed shooting pool and played in the Iron Mountain-Kingsford Men's, Spread Eagle Mixed and the Niagara Men's pool leagues.
Bruce is survived by his wife, Michelle; one son, Herb Fletcher of DePere, Wis.; two daughters, Tracy (David) Irwin of Iron Mountain and Sara Fletcher of Kingsford; one brother, Roland (Sharon) Fletcher of Green Bay; one sister, Susan (Bob) St. Ours of Escanaba; seven grandchildren, Sydney, Emily, Andrew, Joshua, Sierra, Clara, and Maryl; and several nieces and nephews.
