NORTH MANCHESTER — E. Blanche Metzger, 96, Timbercrest Retirement Community, died at 4:20 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 17, 2002, at the Timbercrest Healthcare Center.
She was born on Dec. 14, 1905, in Whitley County, to John Amsa and Estie Mae (Kreider) Snell. She married Jerome E. Metzger on Nov. 28, 1926, in Whitley County. He died on Nov. 2, 1982.
She was a cook at Peabody Retirement Community, North Manchester, for 24 years, retiring in 1979. She was a member of the Liberty Mills Church of the Brethren.
Surviving are two sons, Ronald E. (Wanda) Metzger, New Haven, and Dean L. (Saundra) Metzger, Fort Wayne; two daughters, Mrs. Herbert (Carolyn) Underwood, North Manchester, and Mrs. Charles (Marilyn) Broyles, Westfield; five sisters, Mrs. Dorothy Grossnickle, North Manchester, Nina Prange, Fort Wayne, Mrs. Robert (Edith) Kennedy, South Whitley, Mrs. Dale (Ruby) Dilts, Larwill, and Mrs. Joseph (Beulah) Orcutt, Kendallville; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren. Two sisters are deceased.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Timbercrest Chapel, North Manchester. The Rev. Opal Nees will officiate. Burial will be in the South Whitley Cemetery, South Whitley.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, North Manchester, and one hour prior to services at Timbercrest Chapel.
Preferred memorials are to the Timbercrest Retirement Community, North Manchester.
