Sally Clevenger
(Dec. 4, 1938 - July 8, 2016)

Sally Ann Clevenger of Powell died after a courageous battle at Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody on July 8, 2016. She was 77 with the spirit of a 50-year-old.

Sally was born in Worland to Herman and Helen Krei on Dec. 4, 1938. She was raised on the family dairy farm in Worland where she met and married her husband Gary Clevenger on Aug. 15, 1956. Together they built a life and raised three beautiful children. They moved to Powell in 1987.

Sally started her career as a teacher’s aide in Worland at East Side Elementary school in 1969 until transferring to Powell’s Parkside Elementary School, which became her second home and extended family. Sally loved her students and co-workers who brought such great joy to her life and whom she gave such great joy.

Sally had a deep love for her family, friends, students, people and most of all life, which touched the lives of all who knew her.

Her extraordinary loving and kind spirit emulated the joy of her living God and the gift of life itself. She will forever remain a remarkable woman who will be missed and cherished by all who knew her.

Sally was preceded in death by her parents Herman and Helen Krei, husband Gary Clevenger, son Mark Clevenger, granddaughter Haily, three brothers and two sisters.

She is survived by her children, Chris (Jayne) Clevenger of Powell, Valarie Harper of Maui, Hawaii; grandchildren Brittany (Jacob) Morton, Brooke Clevenger, Chelsie (Zeke) Steele; three great-grandchildren; sisters Dorothy Rudd, Barbara (Joe) Morgan, Ron (Lynn) Krei; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Sally was an active member of the United Methodist Church of Powell, where funeral services will be held July 15 at 10 a.m. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. in Worland.

Memorials may be sent in Sally’s name to Spirit Mountain Hospice House in Cody.
