On the day before her 59th birthday, Lela was ushered into the presence of the Lord. She died peacefully in the comfort of her home in Lewiston, Idaho with her loving husband, Gary, at her side.

Lela was born the seventh child and second daughter of Lorenze and LaVaughn Murdock in Anacortes, Washington, and was a lifetime resident of the Northwest.

With her husband Gary, Lela spent much time in Maui and made regular trips to Alaska and Montana. She loved deep sea and fly-fishing, golf and hunting. Lela was a sports fan through and through. She proudly donned her Seahawks and Cougar gear year round, and never missed a game.

However, Lela will be remembered most as someone who loved her family dearly. She was kind, caring and supportive. Lela delighted her family with thoughtful gifts celebrating life events no matter the miles that separated them. Her gentle nature made her an exceptional wife, a doting daughter, an amazing sister, a fun grandma, and a loyal friend.

She will be sorely missed by many, and is survived by her mother LaVaughn Murdock, her brothers Lorenze, Roy, Curt, Floyd and Wesley Murdock, and her sisters LaVone (Louise) Close, Loretta Strom and Laura Newbaker, as well as her husband Gary, his three children, nine grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A celebration of her life will be held Saturday, July 23, 1 pm at King of Kings Lutheran church in Renton. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the King of Kings Food Bank.

The family will be spreading her ashes at a later date.

We love you, Lela! We will forever hold you in our hearts.
