On Feb. 27, 1849, Christian married Margaretha Schaefer in Greenbush, Waterloo Twp; They were married by the Rev. F.W. Bindeman.

Sadly, Margaretha died in her 38th year, so Christian got married for the 2nd time to a widow named Katherine Diegel-Veh. They were married in Heidelberg, Ontario on Nov. 04, 1861 by the Rev. Stahlschmidt.
Katherine gave birth to 5 children in Ontario.
