Jeanette C. Allabaugh, 83, formerly of Miller Street in Luzerne, died Friday at Valley Crest Nursing Facility in Plains Township, where she was a guest. Born and raised in the Heights section of Wilkes-Barre, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Maude Jones Clocker. She attended Wilkes-Barre schools and resided on Miller Street for 55 years.
She and her husband owned and operated Allabaugh Grocery Store in Luzeme and Dave's Tavern, formerly in Kingston, for over 20 years. She was also a beautician and was formerly employed by Helen Brown Beauty Shop in Wilkes-Barre.
She was a member of First Welsh Baptist Church in Wilkes-Barre. She was preceded in death by her husband, David J. Allabaugh.
Surviving are her sons, David C. Allabaugh, East Granby, Conn.; John R. Allabaugh, Plains Township; sister, Carol Jones, Dallas; four grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday from the Hugh B. Hughes & Son, Inc., Funeral Home, 1044 Wyoming Ave., Forty Fort, with Senior Deacon Ralph Norton officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Shrine Cemetery in Carverton, Kingston Township. Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
Memorial donations may be made to the First Welsh Baptist Church, 52 S. Meade St., Wilkes-Barre.
