Wife of Stephen James P. Rutan who she married on November 1, 1835 ~ Fayette County, Pennsylvania
It is possible their marriage took place at her father's home.
They with their young growing family moved several times as various children indicate this by their birth states ~ first to Georges Township, Fayette County, Pennsylvania, where they were living when the 1850 U.S. Census record was taken. Next to Ohio eventually settling in Somerset Township, Hillsdale County, Michigan about 1854. The family is listed living there in August 15, 1860 when the U.S. Census was taken. Rebecca was left behind to take care of the family when her husband and son William marched off to aid the Union during the Rebellion between the States. She was left a widow in 1864. She continued to live in this area until her passing. Her death record does not say where she is buried but as many of the family are in this cemetery it seems a likely location.
