Kendall A "Kenny J" Johnson, 73, a longtime resident of Babbitt, died Monday, July 18, 2016, at the Carefree Living Center in Babbitt.

He was born February 22, 1943, in Virginia, the son of J.A. and Georgina (Corrigan) Johnson.

He was a 1963 graduate of Tower-Soudan High School and Virginia Junior College. Ken served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War and was united in marriage to Sharon Craig on July 3, 1970. He was employed as a police officer for the city of Babbitt for 30 ½ years. Ken was a member of the Maki-Pinola American Legion Post No. 535 of Babbitt, a life member of the Babbitt VFW Post No. 1539, Ely Masonic Lodge No. 288 AF&AM where he was a past master, served as a Boy Scout leader for 25-plus years, a charter member of the International Academy of Criminology, past state president of American Law Enforcement Officer's Association, past member of the American Federation of Police, and served as the steward for the Teamsters Union Local No. 346.

Ken is survived by his wife, Sharon; children: Brett (Beth) Johnson, Cort (Elizabeth) Johnson, and Rori Johnson; two grandchildren; three step grandchildren; brother-in-law, Ross Martin, sisters-in-law: Susan Ward, and Candice (Jeff) Fisher; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents, Fred and Gerta Johnson, and Robert and Agnes Corrigan; mother-in-law, Dorothy Martin; stepfather-in-law, Clayton Martin; and sister, Glynda Carter.

Burial will be in the Argo Cemetery.
