Donetta Collett Clark
1931 ~ 2016
Donetta Collett Clark, born the fourth child to Daniel Collett and Vernetta Buchanan on March 18, 1931 in Hagerman, ID, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, Sunday, July 17, after a short battle with cancer.
Donetta and her siblings grew up on their family farms in Hagerman, Glenns Ferry, and Grandview where she milked cows, took care of farm animals, learned to grow a garden, rode her horse, and sold watermelons at her family's roadside stand. She attended a one-room school house until the family moved to Boise Avenue. Donetta attended Boise High, where she was active in many organizations and was a drum majorette in the band. After graduation in 1949, Donetta attended college where she learned office management and secretarial skills.
Donetta married William (Bill) Hattabaugh in August 1952. They moved to California and moved up and down the coast and lived in Orange County, eventually settling in China Lake, CA at the Naval Weapons Center. They later divorced. Donetta was active in the community, helping in the schools, playing golf, and playing on a bowling league. She was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and held many positions of service throughout her life.
Donetta married Dr. Marlin Clark in 1982. They lived and worked in Trona and Tehachapi, CA and later retired to Boise in 1998, where Donetta could be close to her aging mother and other relatives and friends from her hometown. They frequently traveled all over the world, including to Europe, Australia, Costa Rica, the Bahamas, and Mexico. But her favorite places on earth were their family cabin in McCall and Maui, Hawaii, where she stayed a month each winter. Donetta loved to be by the water, ocean or lake, and enjoy time with her family, sunsets, and Hawaiian food and music. She was a loving mother, daughter, sister, grandmother and friend. She was glamorous, charitable, vibrant, affectionate, and surrounded herself with lovely, peaceful, fragrant things throughout her life. Donetta/Grandma Dony/GG will be missed greatly by many who knew and loved her.
Donetta is survived by her brother Gary (Brenda) Collett of Sammamish, Wash, her four children and two step daughters: Cathy Reichman (Salt Lake City, UT), Cary (Sam Sandmire) Hattabaugh (Boise), Eric (Julie) Hattabaugh (Bountiful, UT), and Tim (Susan) Hattabaugh (Placentia, CA), Patrice (John) DesPois (Auburn, CA), Marla Clark (San Fransisco, CA), 15 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband Marlin, her parents, brothers Max (Joyce) and Bob (Ruth) Collett, and sister Gloria (Gordon) McDermott.

The family would like to thank Carollen and Dave Ryan, Dave and Barb McDermott, Terrie Hendricks, and Toni Daley for their loving friendships and service to her, especially after her beloved husband passed away in 2010.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 23 at 11 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Timber Creek Ward, 7200 Duncan Ave Boise Idaho.

Condolences may be left for the family at www.bowmanfuneral.com.
