Antonio Mejia Jr., 62, of Amarillo died Saturday, Nov. 18, 2006.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church. Burial will be in Llano Cemetery by Blackburn-Shaw Funeral Directors Memorial Chapel, Fifth Avenue and Pierce Street.
Mr. Mejia was born Dec. 16, 1943, in Amarillo and raised here. He attended Sanborn Elementary School. Antonio had served in the Army. Then he worked for Howard Johnson for nine years. Antonio loved walking every day, and he liked animals.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Emilia Mejia.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Gloria Mejia; two sons, John Edward Mejia and Juan Gabriel Mejia, both of Amarillo; 13 grandchildren, three which are from Juan Gabriel Mejia: Juan Gabriel Mejia Jr., Ashley Brean Mejia and John Juan Mejia; 10 are from John Edward and wife Elizabeth J. Mejia: John Edward Media Jr., Arsenio Antonio Mejia, Sonia Elizabeth Mejia, Liza Marie Mejia, Mei-Lien Keirsten Mejia, Nicole Stormie Mejia, Kitana Talisa Mejia, Heaven Winter Mejia, Sapphire Noel Mejia and Isabel Talitha Mejia; three great-grandchildren which are from John Edward Mejia Jr.: Elizabeth Denise Mejia, John Edward Mejia III and Armond Cruz Mejia; four brothers, Blas Mejia of Arlington, Richard Mejia of Fort Worth, Michael Mejia of Sweetwater and Phillip Renteria of Amarillo; three sisters, Rosa Amber of Arlington, Rebecca Maestas of Amarillo and Martha DeLeon of Fort Worth; two cousins, Ruben Rodriguez and David Lasoya, both of Amarillo; and two aunts, Eva Renteria of Amarillo and Caroline Ponce of Wilmington, Calif.
