Mazine Frances Decker

On July 15, 2016 Mazine Frances (Bell) Decker was welcomed into the loving arms of her Savior and Friend. He was kind enough to lend her to us for 84 years. That time was well spent in His service as she ministered to those around her even until the very end. Family and church were her life.

She was born “number six” in a family of ten to Joseph Hilliard and Mary Lena Bell in Franklin County, North Carolina on February 15, 1932. Mazine moved to Cleveland, TN in her early twenties and lived here until 1969 when she married Jack Decker. As State Overseer for The Church of God of Prophecy, they lived in Arkansas, Maryland, and South Dakota. While in South Dakota, Jack passed away in 1977 and she moved back home to Cleveland. Mazine was always occupied and found working in any one of her numerous professions. She was a seamstress, secretary, photographer (which included developing her own negatives and pictures), film editor, proofreader, gardener, writer, teacher, world traveler, overseer’s wife, inventive cook, artist, and the list goes on. Mazine definitely had a loving heart and was willing to share all she had with anyone in need. Not only was she gifted enough to teach adults, her heart also belonged to children and she spent countless time working in Children’s Ministries.

Mazine is survived by her older brother Blanton Bell (94), younger brother Charlie Bell (80), locally her nieces Jessie Vee Cordeau and Amanda Robson, nephews Kryss and Nick Barick, and numerous other relatives and dear friends who will cherish their memories of her. At the time of her death, Mazine was a member of The Church of God at 5565 Runway Drive, Cleveland, TN.

This is where her visitation will be held at 12:00 pm on Monday, July 18th. Immediately following will be her Homecoming Celebration at1:00 pm. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Gardens.

Companion Funeral Home and the Cody family are honored to assist her family with these arrangements.
