Rita M. Harvey, age 100 of Highland, IL, died Thursday, September 26, 2019, at Faith Care Center in Highland, IL.
She was born on May 31, 1919, in Mason City, IA, the daughter of Karl and Clara (nee Shaw) Drake.
On July 07, 1947, she married Dallas C. Harvey at Great Lakes, IL. He passed away on April 27, 2014.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Highland, IL. She was also a member of VFW Post #5694, Highland, IL.
Rita was born in Mason City, IA and grew up in Cedar Rapids. After she graduated high school she attended a business college in Cedar Rapids. She joined the US Navy after the bombing of Pearl Harbor. She served 8 years discharged as a Petty Officer. She met her husband in Great Lakes, IL and they married. They lived and traveled the world following his Naval career. After her husband retired they started Military Ministry for Campus Crusade for Christ. In 1993 they moved to Highland. Rita was given an honorary PHD in Oriental Flower Arranging and she volunteered at St. Joseph Hospital.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Tuesday, October 01, 2019, at Spengel-Boulanger Funeral Home in Highland, IL, with Rev. Leonard Pye, officiating.
Interment will be at Greene Cemetery in Pocahontas, IL.
