PINE BLUFF (KATV) — Pine Bluff Police are still trying to figure out the motive that left one 30-year-old man dead.

According to police, there's still no suspect information and no arrest has been made.

This marks the third homicide for the city within the last week, and the sixth for the year.

As Channel 7 News previously reported, Earnest Ford Junior, 30, was found in a yard in the 1100 block of 24th street with multiple gunshot wounds at around 5 P.M. on Saturday.

According to police he died in the ambulance while headed to the hospital.

"Three in one week is very rare, I've worked here for a little over 14 years and I can't remember it ever happening, we've only had six this entire year and half of them have been this week," said Lieutenant David De Foor, Pine Bluff Police.

"We actually used to work together for a couple of years at this place called SPSI, a sanitation company, but he was a good father to his kids, I do know that and now they don't have him anymore, that's sad," said Marlin Guy.

According to Guy, the victim had 5 kids and was a good man. Guy added that the senseless violence needs to stop.

"The genocide, the black on black crime it's getting way out of hand and we need more advocates for gun crime laws," said Guy.

As police continue to search for a motive, some questions remain unanswered.

"His car was found a short distance from where his body was, don't know at this time why it was moved or exactly who moved it," added De Foor.

If you have any information on this homicide you're asked to call Pine Bluff Police (870)730-2090.
