He moved to Tulsa after the Glen pool oil strike of 1905. Robert was a delegate to the Republican National Convention from Oklahoma, 1916 (alternate) and 1932. On September 10, 1907, in Independence, Kansas, Robert married Ethel Elizabeth Booth.
