David "Pop" E. Downing, age 71, of St. Louisville, passed away at his home on Wednesday evening, July 13, 2016. David was born in Lorain, OH to the late Earl and Leona (Snyder) Downing on December 4, 1944. He is survived by his loving wife, Rebecca S. (Black) Downing; brothers, Ronald (Yvonne) Downing of Dayton, OH and Michael (Marcy) Downing of Nashville, TN; sister, Diana Shoemaker of Jacksonville, AR; children, Kari (Richard) Kelly, Bridget Perry, Nikki Perry, David Perry, Jr.,; mother-in-law, Frances G. Black, and many other in-laws. David also leaves behind his grandchildren and special buddies, Kayley Singleton, Makayla Kelly, and Nathan Perry; and special friends, Daniel Baker, Tony Black, and Rusty Allspaugh; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. David was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Richard and Robert Downing; sister, Yvonne "Bonnie" (Downing) Lane and special friend, Clyde Peairs. David, a man of faith, was a captain in the US Marine Corps, and proudly served his country during Vietnam. A service will be held for David on Monday, July 18, 2016, at Brucker Kishler Funeral Home, 985 N. 21st Street, Newark, OH 43055 at 2 pm. Family will greet friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date at Cedar Hill Cemetery.
