He was a barber In Rankin and Rantoul and was operating the Hair Force Barber Shop in Rantoul. He has held government contracts for shops at Fort Sheridan, Great Lakes and in Glenview. He had recently operated Dairy Queens at Milford and Paxton for 6 years.
Mr. Eighner was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin and was currently serving on the church council. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Rankin Lions Club, a farmland owner in Iroquois County, a member of the Vermilion County Board from 1969 to 1974, supervisor of Butler Township from 1969 to 1981 and was past president of Vermilion County Supervisors Association.
He has served as the News-Gazette bundle carrier for 25 years.
