Mary Inez Camara, age 83, a lifelong resident of Norton, passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, July 15, 2016. Born in Taunton, Mass. on September 19, 1932, she was a loving daughter of the late Manuel and Rose (Vieira) Camara. Mary grew up in Norton and was a 1950 graduate of Norton High School. Prior to retiring, she had been employed as a secretary for many years at the Foxboro Co. and previously for the former Fernandes Supermarkets. Mary was a lifelong active communicant of St. Marys Church in Norton, where she served as a Eucharist Minister as well as the many other duties she participated in at St. Marys Church. She had also volunteered her assistance at the LaSalette in Attleboro. Mary enjoyed walking and traveling extensively with catholic pilgrimages throughout Europe. She especially loved trips to Madeira Island to visit her extended family. Mary was a true and honest friend to all who knew her. She will always be remembered for her generous nature and will be greatly missed. She was the dear sister of John Camara of Norton, and the late Manuel Camara, Americo Mac Camara and Jordan Camara Sr. She is also survived by several generations of adoring nieces and nephews, as well as her godchildren, whom she loved dearly. Her funeral Mass, to which relatives and friends are cordially invited to attend, will be celebrated on Wednesday, July 20th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Marys Church, 1 Power St., Norton. Burial will follow at the Norton Center Cemetery in Norton. Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, July 19th from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Norton Memorial Funeral home, 19 Clapp St. (Off Route 140, Taunton Ave.) Norton.
