David John Bingham the son of John and Minnie (Peck) Bingham was born April 17, 1932 in Glenwood. He grew up in Glenwood where he attended school. He entered the United States Air Force on April 19, 1951. David served his country as a sergeant in the Air Force during the Korean War where he received a bronze star and ribbon for his service. He was General “Jimmy” Doolittle’s personal driver. He was honorably discharged on October 22, 1953. After the service David worked for the Minneapolis housing and Hagen’s appliances in Minneapolis.

On May 4, 1957, he was united in marriage to Irene Alsaker at the Glenwood Lutheran Church Chapel in Glenwood. The couple made their home in Minneapolis for 19 years before returning to Glenwood on July 10, 1975, where they resided in the same house for the last 41 years.

While living in Minneapolis, David was a member of the VFW. He enjoyed fishing, playing pool, going to auctions, and was a fan of wrestling and the Minnesota Vikings. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his ability to talk to anyone and his love for animals, especially dogs. He loved the holidays when he had all of his family together at their house. David passed away on June 28, 2016 at the Glenwood Retirement Village in Glenwood.

David died Tuesday, June 28, 2016 at the Glenwood Retirement Village. A private family graveside service will be at Glenwood Lutheran Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Irene Bingham of Glenwood; children: ViDell (Dennis) Couillard, Steven (Cindy) Bingham; and Lori (John) Skorczewski all of Glenwood; granddaughters: Crystal (Yorck) Roemer, Trista Skorczewski and Ashley Bingham; great-grandchildren, Zander and Zoie Roemer; other relatives and friends.

David was preceded in death by his parents, John and Minnie Bingham; grandson, Justin Couillard; 2 infant brothers; and sister and brother-in-law, Leola and Lewis Ankeney.
