Tyre Harrison married Rebecca Yates, daughter of Joshua Yates. Tyre and Rebecca are buried at Harrison Cemetery on Sinking Creek, northeast of Mt. Lebanon Church. He was the brother of John Harrison and Richard Alexander Harrison. The brothers were farmers from the Spartanburg, South Carolina area. All three brothers had settled on Big Sinking Creek, a south branch of the Duck River, by 1820.

RESEARCH UPDATE June 2017 indicates he *MAY* be a son of Barzillai Harrison, Revolutionary War soldier from Surry, NC who went to Pendleton District, South Carolina after the war and then to Bedford County, Tennessee circa 1815 where he received a Land Bounty Warrant. Further research is pending****
