Jill Ann Davis was born in TachiKowa, Japan May 25, 1950, to Bea Ward Davis and John P. Davis. Jill's mother, Bea originated here in Muses Mills, Ky, being the daughter of Effie Stone Pitts Ward and James Harry Ward.
Jill's father, John, was a combat pilot with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, and later served as a pilot with the United States Air Force, when the name was changed. Because of her father being stationed in Japan. Jill learned to speak Japanese from her Japanese babysitter.
Everyone remembers Jill as being a beautiful child and teenager. She excelled in her school activities and gradulated from high school from Beavercreek, Ohio. Jill became a christian in 1977, joing the christian church. She received her master's degree from North Florida University in Speach Therapy Education. While residing at Tangerine, Florida, Jill worked for 22 years in the Florida piblic schools, lastly, in Mt. Dora, Florida
Once a child remarked to Jill that another student in the class couldn.t speak goos "Spanish". She found this humorous and quite endearing of this one child, as she actually was trying to mean that the other student who happened to be Spanish, couldn't speak good English. One of her fond memories of teaching.
Jill received a number of certificates, regarding her competence, and dedication to her profession, from her peers. Her sister, Debbie relate that Jill learned American Sign Language and became fluent in its usage. To enable her to help students that were unable to hear at all. Jill was not required to learn sign language, and did many other things to help others. Debbie also stated she truly admired her sister for not complaining, and listening to others. Debbie and her sister were very close as best friends and sisters, and had the same friends, as well. They once worked together at Disney World, Monogramming names on hats. Debbie was taught by Jil, that it is better to give than receive, and the last gift that Debbie was able to give her sister after receiving so many gifts from her , is this poem:
"I've Seen An Angel" "You say you've seen an angel?" My friend ask me today. Without hesitation, "Yes, I have seen one today, I say" He said, "What does she look like, is there a halo and some wings?" "No I replied quickly, She doesn't have those things." "She does have the warmest smile, And is loving, and I miss her." " I ought to know, I said, for this angel is my sister".
Ruby Compton had a memorial service at Muses Mills Christian Church in honor of Jill Davis August 15, 2004. Rev Clifford Muse conducted the service. Jills ashes were buried by family member by her parents & Grandparents graves in Muses Mills Cemetery.
