Mary Minnie Givens, called Minnie, was the daughter of Samuel Green Givens and Sarah E. (Stewart) Givens (1835-1881).
She married Jeffery Talmadge Ayres, son of William West Ayres and Catharine Mary Lacy, on November 17, 1887. The couple had four children, namely:
Lula Maude (Ayres) Peecher (1888-1984);
Fannie Katherine (Ayres) Turner (1891-1919);
Rosa Mae (Ayres) Chappell (1893-1989); and
David Talmadge Ayres (1899-1995).
LOUISIANA PRESS JOURNAL; Louisiana, Pike County, Missouri; Thursday, March 29, 1900:
"Mrs. Jeffery Ayres died at her home on Noix Creek Thursday [, March 22,] at noon. The funeral will be conducted by Revs. Biggs and Patrick Saturday at 12 o'clock at Bethany Church."
There is no headstone for Minnie at Noix Cemetery, the final resting place of her husband, and she does not appear in the Noix Cemetery records. Although there is no headstone for Minnie at Bethany Cemetery, she died only five weeks after her father, who is buried at Bethany, and her obituary shows her funeral at Bethany church. The logical conclusion is that she is buried in the same cemetery as her father.
NOTE FROM BETHANY CEMETERY ON JULY 16, 2021:
Mary is one of Bethany Cemetery's "Missing People". She has no stone, and we have yet to retrieve the cemetery plat-book to know where she is laid to rest. If anyone has any information, please contact Tracy Brookshier, Secretary.
