Matthew Randall Cox, 47, of Sanibel, FL., and formerly of Mystic, CT., departed in the arms of Our Lord on July 10, 2016.
Matthew, beloved son of Robert L. and Susan Campbell Cox, graduated from The Williams School in New London, CT., class of 1987, and Hartwick College in 1991. He was an Exclusive Buyer’s Agent Realtor on Sanibel.
He leaves behind two sisters: Elizabeth “Camie” Cox of Mystic and Megen Leah Cox of Montgomery Village, MD.; three uncles: Dr. David Campbell of Hanover, NH., William J. Cox of Killingworth, CT., and John Cox of Huntley, IL.; five cousins: Camilla Campbell King of Holliston, MA., Andrew Riggs Campbell of Woods Hole, MA., Meriweather Wister Campbell of Livingston, MT., Brian Matthew Cox of Maui, HI., and Christopher John Cox of CA.
Matthew was an athlete. He was a pitcher for the American Legion World Series baseball team. He enjoyed sailing with his father and friends on Long Island Sound, and then solo on the waters of the Gulf of Mexico. He had a great love for animals and a strong sense of fair play. His infectious smile warmed all who knew him well.
A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the Village Church in the Shell Point community of Ft. Myers, FL on August 19 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please direct contributions to your local Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA).
