"James Winslow, born 2 September, 1748, Freetown, Massachusetts; died there, 9 April, 1836, "in his 88th year," and was buried in the Winslow Yard. He married, in 1776, Sarah Barnaby, born 20 May, 1748, daughter of Captain Ambrose Barnaby and Elizabeth Gardner of Freetown. [Captain Ambrose Barnaby, born in 1706, Plymouth; died 18 April 1775, Freetown; married 14 June, 1728, Elizabeth Gardner of Swansey. He was son of James Barnaby and Joanna Harlow of Plymouth and Freetown, and grandson of James Barnaby and Lydia Bartlett of Plymouth. For further information concerning him see Pierce Family, page 326.] She died 13 December, 1808, aged 60, and was buried in the Winslow Yard at Freetown. He married 2nd, Ruth Hovey, widow of Clark, daughter of Reverend Ivory Hovey, of Mattapoisett and Plymouth, Massachusetts."
