GENERAL GRANT CURTIS DIES SUDDENLY AT HOME
Bright's Disease Claims Politician. Superintendent of Police at General Motors.
General Grant Curtis, 56, former member of the police department and prominent in local Democratic political circles, died suddenly at 6:45 o'clock Friday morning at his home, 314 West Howard street, following an attack of brights disease. He had been in poor health for several months but his condition was not considered serious.
Mrs. Curtis had called for him to prepare for breakfast and he was leaving his bed when death came. He had conversed with his wife and did not complain of being ill.
He was a member of the police force for more than seven years and six years was elected to the office of township assessor, which he held for four years. He was later connected with a local cigar store and last fall became superintendent of police at the General Motors corporation site here. He was a member of the local order of Red Men.
The widow, Orphia, one son, Ernest, and four brothers, Richard, John, Charles and Frank Curtis, all of Delaware county, survive him.
The funeral will be held Sunday afternoon at the Pleasant Run church. The cortege will leave the residence at 2 o'clock. Interment will be made in Beech Grove cemetery. (Actually in Jones Cemetery)
