Originally from the Iron mining town of Nashwauk, MN, she married Leo Fay Armstrong as WWII wound down and spent the next 16 years wandering the world, following her Navy husband from base to base, raising three boys along the way. After settling down in Golden Valley, MN, she was widowed in 1964 and never remarried.
Strong, resolute, guiding mother, trusted friend and neighbor, Virginia lived in Golden Valley until failing health required her to move to the Good Samaritan Ambassador nursing home where she lived her final years.
Preceded in her final trip by parents John and Hulda Sandberg, brothers Arthur, Albert and Arnold, sisters Martha Jensen and Bernice Elsey. Virginia was born May 29, 1925, passed on June 30, 2016 and will be buried with her precious husband Leo at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery, Mpls., MN at 10:00 AM Thursday July 21, 2016.
