Oak Park - Mrs. Ella Bell Johnson Hughes, age 102, of Oak Park, died Saturday, July 16, 2016 in the Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after a brief illness.

She was a resident of Oxley Park Health and Rehabilitation in Lyons, and lived most of her life in or near Oak Park. She was a homemaker and a member of the Oak Park Church of God.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel Hughes; four children, Nellie Faircloth, Dot Orlang, Leon Hughes and Herman Hughes; parents, Elick and Doshia Glover Johnson; four sons-in-law, Cecil Faircloth, Jack Meeks, Carl Roland and Freddie Gay; one daughter-in-law, Martha Hughes; four grandchildren, Linda Faircloth, Chris Hughes, Marty Gay, and an infant grandson; one great-granddaughter, Tonya Edwards; and two great-great-granddaughters.

Mrs. Hughes is survived by four daughters, Lois Meeks of the Normantown Community, Betty Williams and husband L.C. of Ailey, Mildred Roland of Normantown, and Grace Hixon and husband Tommy of Augusta; four sons, Eddie Hughes and wife Susie of Augusta, Marvin Hughes and wife Judy of Augusta, Danny Hughes and wife Kay of Melrose, Florida, and Ronnie Hughes and wife Susan of Hephzibah; one daughter-in-law, Maxine Hughes of Augusta; twenty grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren, twenty-three great-great-grandchildren, one great-great-great-grandchild, and numerous nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 19th at 11:00 a.m. in the Oak Park Church of God with Reverend Roger Branch and Reverend Donnie Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Park City Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday evening from 6:00 until 8:00. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to the Community Hospice Foundation, P.O. Box 2277, Vidalia GA 30475.
