Charles E. Reis, age 81, former Mishicot resident, entered into eternal
glory on Friday Sept. 27, 2002 in Wellington, Fla. Funeral services will
be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, 2002 at St. Peter's Evangelical
Lutheran Church in Mishicot with the Reverend Robert Johannes
officiating, with burial to follow in the Mishicot Public Cemetery.
Charles was born on April 11, 1921 in Manitowoc County to the late
Edward and Leona Scham Reis. The Lord brought Charles into his eternal
kingdom by Holy Baptism, and Charles Publicly stated his Christian faith
at his confirmation at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mishicot.
On June 28, 1944, Charles married the former Hazel Rahmlow. The couple
farmed for 28 years in the town of Mishicot, and later Charles owned and
operated a bulk milk route. Charles was a faithful member of St. Peter's
Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mishicot, and also of Immanuel Lutheran
Church of Manitowoc, and in retirement, served the Lord as a member of
Emmanuel Lutheran Church of Zephyrhills, Fla., and Hope Lutheran Church,
in Wellington, Fla. Living the past nine years in Florida, Charles
enjoyed playing horseshoe, and visiting with the northern friends that
would stop to see him.
Taking comfort in the hope of resurrection include his wife Hazel; his
two daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Neale Wenzel, Jeannine and
Michael Barr; one son and daughter-in-law, James and Debra Reis. Charles
is further survived by eight grandchildren, and seven
great-grandchildren, and also by a sister-in-law, and brother-in-law,
Shirley and Glen Rahmlow, of Manitowoc, nieces, nephews, cousins and
many friends. Charles was preceded in death by a daughter, JoAnne Marie
Reis, and a great-granddaughter, Kendra Wenzel.
Relatives and friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday at the
Lambert Funeral Home in Mishicot. Visitation will continue after 12 noon
on Wednesday at St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church until the time
of service at 1 p.m. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, the Reis
family has established a memorial fund for the Manitowoc Lutheran High
School.
