SHELL, Richard G. 79, passed away at home on Wednesday, November 8, 2006, surrounded by his loving family. He was born December 1, 1926 in Dayton, Ohio. Mr. Shell was a Veteran of the Army Air Corps from 1944 to 1946, and a graduate of the University of Dayton Civil Engineering Department in 1951. After he graduated he worked as a structural engineer for the City of Dayton, Wright Patterson Air Force Base and Yount, Sullivan & Locklider Architects. In 1962 he established his structural engineering firm in Kettering, Ohio. In 1988 Richard A. Meyer became his partner and formed the Shell & Meyer Associates, Inc. Consulting Engineers. He retired in 1991 and Richard A. Meyer became president but he continued on as a consultant for his firm until October, 2006.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Gladys Shell (Taylor) and father, Grover, 4 sisters; Freda Jeckering, Arline Morris, Betty Mulholland, Audrey Banister, a brother, James and twin brother, Robert, and a son-in-law, William Crider. He is survived by his beloved wife, Patricia Shell (Kingston), daughter, Deborah Young (Rick), extended family, Barbara Crider, Patricia Green (Dan), Susan Guinn (John) of Fort Meyers, Florida, son James W. Shell (Michele), Kimberly Dougherty (Jimi) and son, Kevin R. Shell (Dawn) of Norfolk, Virginia. Mr. Shell is also survived by sister-in-law, Barbara Hargrove, 16 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
