Jeanne M. Richards, 84, of Princeton passed away Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at Liberty Village in Princeton. Jeanne was born April 21, 1932, as the 10th child of Otto and Mary Ella (Wright) Miller in rural Tiskilwa. She made her home with her sister, Anna Espel, after the death of her mother in September 1937. Jeanne attended elementary schools in Bureau County area and graduated from Princeton High School in 1949. She then attended Gregg Business College in Chicago. She worked at Citizens First National Bank.

Jeanne married Eldon Richards on Oct. 14, 1950, by candlelight ceremony at the First Baptist Church. To this union were born seven children, four daughters and three sons, Mrs. Deborah Ann (Gary) Grady in October 1951, Robert Eldon in December 1952, Mrs. Patricia Carol (Dale) Mitchell in October 1955, William Russell “Rusty” (Martha) in December 1957, Ms. Linda Jean Schuh in January 1959, Mrs. Lorilee (Peter) Cadwell in December 1960 and Randall “Randy” (Jodi) in December 1965.

She ran the Strawberry Patch Tea Room from 1973 to 1974. She also entered Illinois Valley Community College Nursing Program in 1975, and graduated in 1978. Jeanne was employed full-time as a night shift registered nurse at Illinois Valley Community Hospital until 1998 and then was an on-call nurse for several years. She was an active member of the Evangelical Covenant Church in Princeton. She enjoyed her children and grandchildren. She was also an avid cook. She and her husband enjoyed golfing and traveling.

Jeanne is survived by her children, Debbie (Gary) Grady of Princeton, Patricia (Dale) Mitchell of Camdenton, Mo., Rusty (Martha) Richards of Columbus, Ind., Linda Schuh of Chatham, Lorilee (Pete) Cadwell of Roscoe and Randy (Jodi) Richards of Genoa. Also surviving are 15 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Eldon, on March 7, 2016; one son, Robert, in January 1991; one granddaughter, Michelle Rabe, in April 1991; and six sisters and three brothers.
