Ransom, son of Nathan Smith and Rosannah (of Vermont), married Rebecca Strahl in Ohio. They had 3 kids in Ohio before bringing the family by covered wagons to Brown Co., Indiana. The trip took four weeks and four wagons to move "Out West." After a year they moved north to Hamilton Co., establishing Hopewell church and marrying Nancy (Baldwin) Beeson after Rebecca passed. Nancy and Ransom moved further west, settling near Turney, Missouri and raising another family. Nancy ran a boarding house after losing Ransom and the twins: Asa and Mary.

Son Jesse Smith is not listed on this site. He farmed in Indiana with Rachel Harvey and ran away with Ella Harvey, dying, we know not where.
