Youngest of three children born to Judge Wm. J. Henley and his first wife, Sara A. Mason, Gladys appears with her parents on the 1900 census at Rushville, and again in 1910 by which time the family had moved to Chicago.

Like her grandmother Missouri Hackleman, Gladys studied at the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music.

The news report of her marriage to Henry Louis Mauzy states she had previously toured Europe for some months with her mother. They returned to New York from that trip aboard the S.S. St. Paul on 11 Oct 1914, giving their home address as 581 Woodward Avenue in Detroit.

Gladys married Henry Louis Mauzy at Chicago in 1916, and returned with him to Rushville where they made their home.
She was the mother of two sons, David and Robert.

Predeceased by her husband and son David, she later removed to Syracuse, Indiana where her son Robert resided.

Gladys was a resident of Syracuse at the time of her death at Goshen General Hospital. Her death certificate states her remains were cremated at South Bend, but does not provide an interment location.

(Robert Jameson Mauzy, 05 Jul 1920 -- 08 Sep 2001. A graduate of Indiana University, he was an accountant and corporate comptroller. A veteran of WWII, he was a master sergeant in the Army and served with the adjutant general's office. In 1946, he married Joan Schrader. They were the parents of two children and made their home at Syracuse, Indiana.)
